The Genesee Gateway is a project in adaptively reusing a series of classic buildings on Genesee Street in Buffalo, NY. It was across from the Washington (Chippewa) Market.
One building is Richard A Waite’s Werner Photography Building. The first floor has lovely brass work.
For the upper floors, in keeping with the building’s function as a photography studio, Richard Waite placed a waterfall window.
Another building in the row is this small-scale classical one by August Esenwein and James A. Johnson.
The Jacob Schwinn building is unrelated to the bicycle firm; it was one of a series of successful business selling umbrellas, parasols, walking sticks and canes. They were prepared to furnish handles in gold, silver, bone, or ivory.
